Andy Lee Loses To Brian Vera

Ordinarily I wouldn't discuss a middleweight bout on this site since it doesn't apply to the Klitschko brothers. But, this fight does have to do with the Klitschko's, and that's because Andy Lee's trainer is Emanuel Steward which is the trainer of Wladimir Klitschko.

Steward and Lee are friends, and Steward had predicted before this fight that Lee would be the future of the middleweight division. I'm not sure how he feels about Lee now, but I'm sure he wasn't expecting a loss to former Contender series boxer Brian Vera.

Lee did knock down Vera early, but Vera weathered the storm to win via 7Th round TKO stoppage. Vera also seemed to be the stronger of the two. The stoppage seemed to be fairly premature, even though Vera was having a big round, but there were no complaints by Steward after the fight.

So, who knows. Maybe Steward will just chalk this off as a bad night, since it was Lee's 1st defeat. Maybe he will try teaching some new tactics with Lee in the future. Maybe this in turn will effect how he trains Wladimir Klitschko in the future. What do you think?

Brian Vera (16-1, 10 KOs)
And Lee (15-1, 12 KOs)
