IBF: Klitschko vs Haye Fight Deal Still Possible

The IBF originally gave Wladimir Klitschko and David Haye until May 17th to finish negotiations for a exception to fight each other in a unification match instead of Wladimir fighting his mandatory Alexander Povetkin. A deal had not been reached however the IBF has said that that there is still a possibility that if a proposal is sent to them before June 17th, which is the date Wladimir and his team have until to work out a deal with Alexander Povetkin and his team, that they have they still could accept the proposal. It's just not guaranteed like it would have been before May 17th.

The IBF's championship chairman Lindsey Tucker had the following to say:

"If Klitschko (goes ahead?) and submits his request, there is no guarantee that he will receive approval. Wladimir could still reach a deal with Haye and it is possible the unification will get priority over the mandatory defense. (Klitschko-Povetkin is not a sure thing) but the possibility of it happening is very high."
